Ontario Police announced their third raid of a cannabis facility in the past week, seizing 1,200 plants and nearly 4,000 pounds of processed cannabis from a greenhouse in Wainfleet.

On Thursday, June 17, members of the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), the OPP, along with members of the Niagara Regional Police Service executed a search warrant at a facility in Wainfleet.

Police seized 1,294 cannabis plants and 3,852 pounds of processed cannabis, along with a “large sum” of Canadian cash from a safe. Two adult males were charged with one count each of harvesting cannabis without authorization, possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution, and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

The two men, Wesong Zheng and Hui Yun Chen were both released and scheduled for court at a later date.

The police report says the facility was operating under a Health Canada licence, but does not say if it was a personal or designated medical production licence or a commercial operation. Police valued the cannabis at $1,000 a plant and $1,000 a pound.

Earlier this week, OPP announced two other recent busts, seizing 18,000 cannabis plants and 3,000 pounds of cannabis from two unlicensed grows.
