A 911 call to Grande Prairie RCMP about a robbery ended with the seizure of a plethora of illicit cannabis and cannabis products, along with LSD and psilocybin.

Police in Alberta say they received a 911 call about a robbery on February 26, 2022, at approximately 9:15 a.m., leading them to a local residence. 

Once inside, police were told about three individuals who were in the house that morning. One of the individuals reportedly took out a firearm and threatened the male resident of the home who had called 911, and obtained a quantity of Canadian currency.

Police say the resident then sprayed all three individuals with bear spray, causing the residents to then flee on foot. One minor connected with the crime was later found and arrested, with the other two at large. 

While inside the residence, officers say they also then saw several indicators of drug trafficking which resulted in the male resident being arrested. A search warrant was then obtained for the residence.

Police found nearly seven kilograms of dried cannabis, more than a kilogram of cannabis resin, 113 cannabis vape pens and 84 refill cartridges, 222 packages of cannabis edibles, nearly two kilograms of psilocybin, 89 bottles of liquid cannabis edibles, and 56 tabs of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD).

Officers also seized a debit machine, advertising materials, and “multiple other items relating to drug trafficking”.

Following a judicial hearing, the youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on March 21, 2022. The resident, Drew Fertuck, was released from custody on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on May 2, 2022.
