Road check in BC yields 33 kg cannabis seizure

A man in BC was arrested after police found 33 kg of cannabis in several large, plastic bins during a motor vehicle road check on April 14, 2025.

BC Highway Patrol officers were conducting a road check near Yale, BC and stopped a lone driver. While speaking to the driver, the officer noted that the minivan was suspiciously full of ten large storage containers, and there was also an overpowering odour of green cannabis coming from inside the vehicle.

A 33-year-old man living in Surrey who was arrested is known to police for similar offences. His name will not be released until formal charges are laid. He is considered innocent until proven guilty in court.

Yale is located about 160 km east of Surrey in BC’s interior.
