
Calgary Police charged a 15-year-old male in relation to three cannabis store robberies that occurred over the weekend.
Police say that, first, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at approximately 8:40 pm, an unknown individual wearing a disguise entered 13th Floor Cannabis, located at 8060 Silver Springs Blvd. N.W. The suspect threatened an employee with a weapon while demanding cannabis products and then fled the store on foot.
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, at approximately 8:25 pm, the same suspect is believed to have entered Cowboy Vape & Smokes, located at 4624 Varsity Dr. N.W., and once again threatened an employee with a weapon and demanded cannabis products before fleeing the store on foot.
About an hour later, at approximately 9:50 pm, the same suspect is believed to have returned to 13th Floor Cannabis and demanded cash and cannabis products while threatening an employee with a weapon.
In each instance, the suspect fled the business with an unknown amount of merchandise.
As a result of the investigation, the suspect was arrested shortly after the third robbery without incident, and a search warrant was subsequently executed at a residence in the community of Silver Springs, where stolen items believed to have been taken during the robberies were recovered.
A 15-year-old male has been charged with one count of robbery and two counts of robbery with a firearm. He will next appear in court on Monday, March 24, 2025.
The teen cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The Edmonton Police Service was recently asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect responsible for robbing a cannabis store in south Edmonton in October and November 2024.
A cannabis store near Calgary also faced an attempted break-in on Friday, February 28.
Cannabis stores in Canada continue to be targets for robbers and burglars. Ontario cannabis retailers have recently expressed their frustration following a recent string of robberies.
