The New Brunswick RCMP say they have seized a quantity of illegal cannabis candies, as well as a significant amount of illegal dried cannabis, in Dieppe, New Brunswick.
On June 1, 2021, members of the Codiac Regional RCMP were notified of a shipment of illegal cannabis product that had been identified at a Canada Post distribution centre. Police seized several packages of illegal product, which originated from British Columbia and were destined to several locations in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
“The cannabis candies seized would be indistinguishable from regular candies that are sold in stores,” says Cpl. Hans Ouellette. “One package imitates a popular brand of candy. Another was in a unmarked resealable bag. Cannabis remains a controlled substance, and the only legal way to obtain marijuana products is to purchase it from a licensed provider.”
Police are continuing to investigate. The seized products will be destroyed once the investigation is concluded.
