New Zealand man growing cannabis to pay for back surgery pleads guilty

An 81 year old New Zealand man has pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis, selling or supplying cannabis plants that he says he was going to sell in order to buy a wheelchair and pay for his back surgery.

He said he intended saving the proceeds to buy a $3500 wheelchair and pay for a back operation which he estimated would cost about $100,000.

Police say they found 364 cannabis plants, along with dried cannabis and cash in different rooms on the Ōhauiti property of John Banks Price. Ōhauiti is a small community in northern New Zealand… read more here at the source
