A BC survey shows fewer young people using cannabis since legalization, a court dismissed an argument that cannabis seeds are not regulated under the federal cannabis regulations, and a man received a conditional sentence for the operation of an unlicensed cannabis store in Nova Scotia.

In financial news, Rubicon Organics reported its Q4 and 2024 year-end financials, Simply Solventless provided Q1 2025 guidance, MediPharm Labs reported their Q4 2024 earnings, and CanadaBis reported its Q2 2025. The court again extended the stay for 420 Premium Markets and rejected High Park’s SISP bid.

Two existing cannabis stores in Gibsons, BC, have applied for rezoning and received their first reading from council during a recent meeting. 

The City of Estevan, Saskatchewan, has accepted an application for a new cannabis store in the city, making it the sixth to be approved for development. 

Workers at WestCanna secured union certification across their two Vancouver stores with UFCW 1518. Established in 2016, Westcanna is one of the original cannabis operators in the Vancouver marketplace

Cannabis NB (CNB) is seeking an implementation partner for the implementation of the commercial cloud-based, Microsoft Dynamics 365 (“D365”) Advanced Warehouse tool. CNB requires a trusted, agile, and solutions-focused partner.

Aurora Cannabis Inc. was named an honouree on the Globe & Mail’s 2025 Report on Business, Women Lead Here list. This annual editorial benchmark recognizes the top publicly traded Canadian companies with the highest gender diversity at the executive level.

Mercanto Holdings Inc., formerly The Good Shroom Co Inc., says it has secured one of only two currently approved battery listings by Quebec’s cannabis board for the launch of the province’s upcoming vape category. Quebec is expected to approve approximately 25 vape cartridges, with listing decisions expected in the coming months.

Calgary’s CanadaBis Capital Inc. announced that it has closed the first tranche of the previously announced brokered private placement of 11% unsecured convertible debentures at a price of $1,000 per Debenture. 

Tilray Brands, Inc. officially transitioned the cultivation of its flagship brand and strain, Good Supply Jean Guy, to its production facility in Masson-Angers, Québec. The facility employs over 100 residents of Québec and produces more than 12 tonnes of cannabis annually.

Avicanna Inc. announced that it will miss the March 31 deadline to file the Company’s audited consolidated financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2024.  

HYTN Innovations Inc. announced that it received digital Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certificates from Health Canada, confirming the GMP compliance of its Kelowna-based manufacturing facility. Issued under HYTN’s Drug Establishment Licence, these Certificates acknowledge the Company’s GMP status for the United States, Bermuda, and Israel. The licence enables the company to fabricate, package, and label non-sterile pharmaceuticals containing cannabis and psilocybin.

International cannabis news

Two senior members of the German conservative CDU/CSU bloc led by Friedrich Merz are demanding a reversal of the legalization of cannabis last year by the outgoing Socialist SPD-led “traffic light” coalition, the Augsburger Allgemeine reported.

In California, San Diego County’s first cannabis lounge, Sessions by the Bay, is set to open in April, located above a cannabis store. GreenState reported on several other similar new locations in California, as well. 

Gold Flora, a Southern California-based cannabis company that operates 16 dispensaries statewide, is seeking to sell its assets through a receivership

Local media reports that, in the face of the federal government’s crackdown on cannabis, including delays in registrations and renewals of Argentina’s Cannabis Program Registry (REPROCANN), the provinces are taking their regulations into their own hands.
