Yukon issues recall of jerky over possible THC contamination

Residents of Yukon are being warned of a possible contamination of THC in beef or bison jerky after several people complained of negative effects this week.

Environmental Health Services of Yukon issued an official recall notice Wednesday evening, Dec. 30. Although THC is suspected, the official notice only identifies the jerky as being “contaminated with a foreign material that may be a health hazard”.

Traces of THC were found in the system of those who checked into the hospital with a feeling of being sick/nauseous, numbness, stumbling/difficulty walking, a high heart rate, and dizziness.

The product was voluntarily recalled and removed from shelves by the manufacturer, Off the Hook Meatworks, and local RCMP are investigating.
