We are very excited to announce our next Growing Relationships in Ontario; this time, we’ll be in Ottawa with our one-day B2B event! And we’re partnering again with Tether to create a full-day program with something for everyone:
9am – 3pm: Growing Relationships
6pm – 9pm: Tether Sampling Event (use YOWSTRATCANN for a discount on tickets!)
Growing Relationships is specifically designed to deliver opportunities to build relationships, share knowledge, and socialize with the community as we bring retailers, producers, and ancillary services together for a day of networking, brainstorming, discussion and learning.
We’re passionate about bringing growers, processors, and retailers together, to get to know each other and share ideas. An important component of the Growing Relationships events is to engage the community in discussion and brainstorming on industry issues from a variety of perspectives. We capture the notes and provide a summary to the relevant regulators, to inform them from the folks who have their feet on the ground daily.
Attendees will enjoy networking opportunities, engaging panel discussions, a delicious catered lunch, and the private rooftop patio at the Preston Event Centre.
ADULT ONLY: This event is only open to 19+ years of age. ID may be requested upon entry and if you do not meet the requirements, no refunds will be provided.
I appreciate the opportunity to talk with some of the movers and shakers here in Alberta. The reciprocal dialogue was really great, and your innovative tools for fast networking were a blast for all. Thanks again for adding to the fabric of the industry in such a meaningful way.
Thank you for bringing Growing Relationships to Winnipeg. The feedback I received from producers, reps and retailers has been incredibly positive, and everyone is eagerly anticipating the next one.
Helped me remember I am part of a passionate community…
It helped me tremendously to remember and feel that I am part of a passionate community and not just existing in a silo as so many others described. I feel that was due to the independent retailer and micro-grow focus, so I really appreciated that and found it was such a constructive conversation.
A great opportunity to meet independent and micro growers…
The atmosphere was electric! It was such a great opportunity to meet some independent and micro growers we didn’t even know were around; these growers will definitely serve as an excellent addition to our menu. All thanks to StratCann’s incredible crew.
One of the most worthwhile events I have attended…
The Growing Relationships event by StratCann was one of the most worthwhile events I have attended this year. It was nice to meet so many people from all sides of the industry. It was a pleasure to participate in the retailer panel. Looking forward to more events.
I like that you focus on smaller independent retailers and growers as we often don’t have the resources to be heard as loud as the larger corporations.
One of the most eye-opening and effective conferences…
I found so much value in StratCann’s Growing Relationships event and believe everyone should get to one at least once. It’s one of the most eye-opening and effective conferences I’ve attended. Putting everyone in a room to discuss and try to tackle all the issues together, ADORED IT!
Lots of insight into what’s going on in this industry…
There was lots of insight into what’s going on in this industry and it’s incredible that you gave this opportunity to everyone to share their expertise. Thank you for putting on an awesome event!

StratCann welcomes members of the BC Cannabis Secretariat, LCRB, and LDB, to discuss current policies and upcoming policy changes such as farmgate, direct sales, on-site events and consumption, and more.
This event includes approximately 30 minutes of presentations from the provincial representatives, followed by a Q&A session with participants.
The processes that make up cannabis extraction and refinement are generally well understood. However, how critical value ingredients are affected by processing and refinement is all too often overlooked, leading to time-consuming and costly mistakes.
This webinar will introduce the concept of conservation of mass as it applies to mass balance, which will be used to discuss simple top-down and bottom-up forecasting and ROI modelling.
Participants will learn skills to optimize operations resulting in reduced process time, increased process efficiency and repeatability.
Covering: * Brief overview of cannabis and its constituents * Brief overview of processing; from field to isolate * Mass Balance; the conservation of mass * Mass balance from field to isolate * Top-down modelling (using basic arithmetic) w/examples * Bottom-up modelling (using basic arithmetic) w/examples * Factors affecting Mass balance, w/examples

Join in this online discussion featuring Tom Ulanowski and Dave Fox as they explore the potential environmental impacts of cannabis cultivation and processing, as well as what the food and beverage industries are doing to address similar environmental issues.
Cannabis production, especially indoor production, is known to have a high carbon footprint, with extensive energy needs required for lighting, ventilation, cooling, and dehumidification.
As legalization increases the amount of large-scale, intensive cannabis production facilities across Canada and around the world, understanding the environmental impact of the cannabis industry will be increasingly important to consumers, producers, and regulators, alike.
The presentation is followed by a live Q&A for participants to engage in the conversation.
Tom Ulanowski is Vice President of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at Nextleaf Labs, a BC-based Health Canada Licenced Standard Processor, where he also holds the positions of Quality Assurance Person (QAP) and Responsible Person.
At Nextleaf, Tom is intimately involved in the day-to-day production/manufacturing activities, as well as research and product development, regulatory liaison, and licensing/permitting. Tom has been working in the legal cannabis industry since 2014, and is a Professional Chemist (ACPBC), Chartered Chemist (ACPO), and Articling Agrologist (BCIA). Tom holds an HBSc Degree in Analytical Chemistry & Environmental Monitoring from the University of Toronto, as well as an MSc Degree in Biogeochemistry and Hydrogeology from the University of Western Ontario.
Dave Fox is a food loss + waste (FL+W) and water reduction professional. With a Masters Degree in Science from McGill University and a Bachelor of Environment degree from University of Waterloo, he is experienced in city water rates, wastewater and lean manufacturing.
Dave and his team are specialized in quantitative measurements (i.e., ultra-sonic and amp logging), manufacturing processes, and implementing solutions with the greatest return on investment. With over 10 years of industry experience, Dave’s proven technical competence and cross-pollination ideas have significantly reduced overhead costs, reduced GHGs, and elevated the brands he works with.
