OPP seize more than eight tons of cannabis, 45,000 plants from two Kingsville farms

Essex County OPP say they recently seized cannabis worth more than $61 million from two Kingsville farms.

On June 28, 2022, the OPP Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) executed two search warrants at two greenhouse locations as well as two related residences.

Police say they seized more than 45,000 illegal cannabis plants and eight tonnes of processed illegal cannabis they value at more than $61 million. Police also seized property estimated to be worth more than $300,000.

No charges have been laid at this time. The investigation is ongoing. 

The OPP-led PJFCET was provided assistance throughout this investigation by members of the Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit, OPP West Region Emergency Response Team, OPP West Region Community Street Crime Unit, the Canada Border Services Agency and the Windsor Police Service.
