The Edmonton Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect responsible for robbing a cannabis store in south Edmonton on October 20, 2024.

On November 6, 2024, police sought the public’s assistance in identifying suspects of a cannabis store robbery in the area of Desrochers Gate SW and Daniels Way SW.

Investigations have now determined that 19-year-old Seth Newman is one of the suspects. Arrest warrants have been granted for Newman, but his whereabouts are unknown. He is said to have ties to Edmonton and parts of Saskatchewan.

Such robberies have happened in the past. In October 2024, EPS made a similar request for help identifying a man in a fake beard robbing cannabis stores. In June, EPS said they were looking for two other suspects in a cannabis store robbery.

Last November, Calgary Police needed help identifying a suspect related to cannabis store robberies in Edmonton and Calgary. Calgary later identified suspects in that string of cannabis store robberies.

In December, Police in Ontario also arrested a man in connection to a cannabis store robbery.

In January 2025, police in Quebec arrested a man following a robbery at an SQDC location in Saint-Georges. Later that month, one man was arrested, and $3,000 in cannabis products were recovered following multiple break-and-enters in Windsor. Two Ontario men were arrested in two different cannabis store break-ins in one day in January, as well.

In January, Winnipeg Police asked for help finding two suspects in an armed cannabis store robbery, as well.

Cannabis stores in Canada continue to be targets for robbers and burglars. Ontario cannabis retailers have recently expressed their frustration following a recent string of robberies.
